Four of our Year 5’s went to Abbots Hill School to take on some tricky maths challenges! Well done 🙂

In Maths Fir were estimating and then measuring objects around the classroom.

Did you know why angles in a triangle total 180°? Today we learnt the reason: If you put all the angles of a triangle together with their vertices at the centre point, they make a straight line. We know that all angles on a straight line equal 180° so the angles in a triangle equal 180°.

We have been busy getting ready for Enterprise week. So far, we have been pricing and buying goods for the stall and understanding what budgets are all about. Today, we went to Sainsbury’s and bought the final goods for our stalls. Additionally, we asked around at local shops for donations as we went over budget. Finally, we have been creating posters and the actual stalls. Photos to follow…

This afternoon in Pips we counted some of the conkers we found and then made marks on our boards to show how many we each had.

While some of us revised finding simplifying and finding common denominators, others of us worked on solving a puzzle of equivalent fractions. Well done to the one mathematician who solved the whole puzzle.Â

We looked at different representations of fractions.
