At Brockswood, we all play an important part in helping to run the school through taking on different roles and responsibilities. We are also encouraged to share our opinions and ideas to help Mrs Voigt, the school staff and the governors keep improving our school.
Each class has two representatives on the school council. The School council is over seen by Mrs Bevil-Gahan. The School Council is responsible for fundraising activities that support different charities; either local, national or international as well as raising money for the school.
We are also working towards achieving the Gold Green Tree Award, having already achieved Silver.
Our representatives this year are:
Freddie and Ines
Poppy and Kye
Alex and Ava
Olly and Bella
Rhys and Margarita
The sports crew work with Mrs Dalton and Mrs Baria and is lead by the year 6 sport ambassadors Soli and Natalia and health leaders Oli and Victoria. The rest of the crew are made up of year 5 children who help with games, sports and competitions played at lunchtimes. The children also promote the whole school ethos, educating others about health, nutrition and exercise.
Our focus this term is healthy hearts. We are looking at healthy food swaps and using our new play equipment to increase exercise at break time and lunch time ensuring we all achieve the goal of 60 minutes of exercise a day.
We are passionate about sport and enjoy a variety of competitive sporting events organised by Dacorum Sports Network where fair play and sportsmanship is as important as our participation.
In September some brave year 6’s stood for House Captain roles. They gave fantastic speeches to their Houses and votes then took place. This year’s House Captains are:

Our focus for this half term is to make sure that classes keep their door shut and turn their lights off when they are not needed.
Our school believes that we all have the right to an enjoyable playtime. In order to help achieve this our Y5 and Y6 children are trained to be Play Leaders. They are trained by our staff and also through the Hertfordshire Anti-bullying Initiative.
When on duty we are expected to organise and initiate games, help the younger children to resolve playground squabbles and help children who may be feeling lonely join in with games and make friends.
All the children know which Play leaders are on duty as we wear special caps!
